CopperRidge Ridgebacks is proud to announce it now has its first Grand Champion. Our boy Chris, CH Redawgs Christofel O’CopperRidge, can now add another title to his name – Grand Champion. What is a Grand Champion you may ask? Well, AKC announced back in March it will be offering this new title. Only Championed dogs may earn points toward their Grand Champion by either going Best of Breed, Best of Opposite, or two new placements – Select Dog and Select Bitch. This was obviously a ploy to get Championed dogs back into the ring – and it worked. Chris dusted off his show attitude and earned the needed 25 points and 3 major wins in a mere few shows. He cinched the title at the Tucson Show on November 22nd. The boy LOVES to show!
We should also mention there are more CopperRidge dogs in the hunt for a Grand Champion title. Sebastian, CH CopperRidge Caliente, and Rae, CH CopperRidge One in a Million, both have over 10 points toward their Grand Champion title. Way to go and good luck on getting that title!

CopperRidge KZ Siverado Sam - Winners Dog
Other news from the Tucson show – Sam, CopperRidge KZ Silverado Sam, and Leo, CopperRidge One Lucky Lion, each earned points going Best of Winners Friday and Sunday respectively. And, in his first time out in the Open Class, Bodie, CopperRidge Fire Under Control, took Reserve to Winner’s Dog on Sunday among very stiff competition. Last but not least, our girl Kazi, took Winners on Sunday. Congrats to all these wonderful dogs and their owners!
The four day Yuma shows were December 3-6. Sebastian took Best of Breed on Friday and Select Dog on both Saturday and Sunday. Then, our newest dog to the show ring, Sydney, RedSkyes-Mijani CopperRidge Venus, took Reserve on Friday and then went Best Puppy in Hound Group on Saturday. She made her debut in the Best in Show (for puppies) ring – hopefully that will not be her last!! Outstanding weekend for owner/handler Kathy Richards. Way to go!!!
Last but not least – congrats to Zuri, FC RedSkyes Destination Intrigue, who is a Sunni x Chris puppy, and her owners Susan Morrell and Virginia Gilbert. Zuri won Best of Breed at the AKC Lure Coursing Nationals. She tied for Best in Field only to lose in the run off – and that was her 5th run of the day! Click here to see an amazing picture of Zuri in action!
As the shows for 2010 now come to a close, we would like to thank all of our dog owners who have either showed their dogs or brought them to the show ring to strut their stuff and make CopperRidge very proud! We would like to send out our heart felt thanks and warm wishes during this upcoming holiday season.
May you all have a wonderful holiday and an even better 2011! See all of you next year in the show rings!
Lin and Bob
