CopperRidge has a winning weekend in Colorado and Arizona.

Besides the Reese (CH Pumamere Legally Blonde CopperRidge, SC)  x Travis (CH RiverCity’s Travlin Man, JC)  litter having 4 champions, we now have a BOB winner at a RRCUS supported show!  Sebastian, CH CopperRidge Caliente CGC, took Best of Breed both Saturday and Sunday at the Colorado Springs Kennel Club show June 12 & 13.  This was a RRCUS supported entry which made the win even better!  Way to go owner/handler Kathy Richards-Stredney.

Haley, CopperRidge One Fell Swoop, from the Chris x Hannah litter, won her second Best in Sweeps title.  Her first Best in Sweeps came at the Orange Coast Specialty Show in April (winning over 40 puppies) and she also won Best in Sweeps both Saturday and Sunday at the Colorado Kennel Club show.  She also won her class both days.  Congratulations to her owners Stephen and Jaimie Hovanec.  Kathy also handled Haley but we are hoping to see her owner in the ring with her soon!!!

In Flagstaff, Arizona, Piper, CopperRidge I Dreamed of Africa, went Reserve Winners both days and Sam, CopperRidge KZ Silverado Sam, went Reserve on Sunday.  Aura did a great job showing both of them and congrats to their owners - Keri Nelson (Piper) and Chad & Tiffany Nuckles (Sam)!

Arizona Rhodesian Ridgeback Breeder, CopperRidge, has a winning weekend!

Scottsdale, Arizona Ridgeback Breeder, CopperRidge, had a winning weekend at the recent dog shows held at WestWorld.  The “Fiesta Cluster” might have been cut short by rain (Monday was canceled due to a flooded field) but that did not shorten the wins by the CopperRidge dogs!

Friday and Saturday shows were sponsored by the Scottsdale Dog Fancier Association.  Judge James G. Reynolds awarded Chase, CopperRidge KZ Out of Africa, Best of Winners from the 12-18 month class.  This is Chase’s first 4 point major win.  Congratulations to owners Bonnie and Patrick Evans!  Chase was expertly handled by Memo Guillermo.

Saturday was even more exciting.  Haley, CopperRidge One Fell Swoop, went Best of Winners (from the American Bred class) and then Best of Opposite Sex under Judge Dr. Robert D. Smith.  This is only the second day in the show ring for this beautiful girl and she won over 6 Championed bitches in the specials ring.  OUTSTANDING!  A huge congratulations goes out to her owners Jaimie and Steve Hovanec.

On Sunday, we had another major win.  Shumba, CopperRidge KZ Jock of the Bushveld, went Winner’s Dog from the Bred By Exhibitor class for his SECOND 4 point major win - thanks to Judge Karen Wilson.  Shumba now has 2 major wins under his belt as well as 8 total points.  He is over 1/2 way to his championship already!!  Congrats to Tara Sissel and Bruno Teixeira !

Monday we were all disappointed.  It had rained all day Sunday which left the polo field at WestWorld under inches of water.  We were all on a roll and more winning was yet to be had!

In some out-of-state news, Sahara, CopperRidge Desert Rose of Lionlamb, went Best in Puppy Sweeps at the Rockland County NY RRCUS supported show in February.  Congratulations to her owner/handler Susan Pisarri!

Arizona Ridgeback Breeder - CopperRidge Ridgebacks introduces another Champion!

Lin and Bob Hainlen of CopperRidge Ridgebacks are proud to introduce their newest Champion - CH CopperRidge Caliente, CGC - Sebastian. He is co-owned and handled by Kathy Richards (Stredney). Kathy has been handling Sebastian since his first show at six months of age in Prescott, Arizona. And, ironically, he earned his championship at the very same show 2 years later with a 4 Point Major win - thanks to Judge Norman L Patton! Having never participated in conformation events prior to owning Sebastian, this accomplishment is all the more sweeter for Kathy and even more exciting for Lin and Bob!

Sebastian earned his first 4 point major win at the prestigious Inland Empire Hound Specialty when he was only 11 months old. He earn his champion status with 4 - 4 point majors and a 2 point win! Outstanding for this owner/handled team!!!

More good news from the Prescott Arizona Kennel Club Show - Kathryn Blumenfeld-Jones (breeder/owner/handler) and Dina (CH KAKILY STARRY NIGHT OF PUMAMERE-COPPERDGE JC RN) earned a second place showing and her Rally Advanced title with 93 points. Way to go!!!!

Arizona Ridgeback Breeders, CopperRidge and KaKily, just keep on winning!

Arizona ridgeback breeder, CopperRidge Rhodesian Ridgebacks, had a stellar weekend in Flagstaff, Arizona over the weekend of June 6 & 7. Flagstaff Kennel Club held their yearly event in the cool Arizona pine trees and the weather was a little windy but overall, it was a gorgeous weekend.

On Saturday, Kazi, Primetime CopperRidge Star Kissed, went Best of Winners for her FIRST 4 point major. This is only the THIRD show for Kazi and what an awesome job Aura did showing our “little” girl!

Let’s not forget about our up and coming puppies! There were two puppies from the Kirbi x Zag litter in attendance. CopperRidge Little Miss Sunshine, Cassidy, was awarded BEST PUPPY in SHOW - owner/handled by Bonnie Evans who did a WONDERFUL job showing her girl. And, CopperRidge Out of Africa, handled by Aura, did a marvelous job in the ring. Expect big things from both of these lovely puppies!

Speaking of Zag, RedSkyes Light’n McQueen, JC - He finished his Championship this same weekend at the RRCUS supported show in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Congratulations to his breeder, Linda Cannon, of RedSkyes Ridgebacks!

On Sunday, Hayden, was awarded Winners Dog for a 4 point major and he finished his Championship! Congratulations to his owners. We will be posting his winning picture on our Champions page very soon!

KaKily Ridgebacks were victorious both Saturday and Sunday. Shaka (BISS CH KaKily Shockwave of Pumamere-Coprdg, JC RN) handled by Breeder/Owner Donald Blumenfeld-Jones won Best of Breed on Saturday and Best of Oppostite Sex on Sunday. Then Dina (CH KaKily Starry Night of Pumamere-Coprdg, JC RN) was awarded Best of Opposite Sex on Saturday and Best of Breed on Sunday. As always, Breeder/Owner/handled by Kathryn Blumenfeld-Jones!

WHEW! What a great weekend!

New Champion Crowned at Kachina Dog Show

Breeder/Owner/Handler, Kathryn Blumenfeld-Jones (KaKily Ridgebacks) and Dina (CH KaKily Starry Night of Pumamere-Coprdg, JC RN) pulled off a “three-peat” by winning Best Opposite Sex all three days of the ARRC/Kachina Dog Shows at the University of Phoenix Stadium. This was a new venue for these shows and it was a nice change of pace considering it was very windy over the weekend. There were a lot of out of state entries which made for a very competitive field.

jessiechampionpic11The BIG NEWS was Jessie (CH CopperRidge 100 Degrees in the Shade, JC) won a 5 Point Major to complete her championship - with 4 major wins! She was expertly handled by John Mayhall of Pine, AZ. Congratulations Tammy and Rich Western!!

Our “new to the ring” Kazi (Primetime CopperRidge Star Kissed, JC) did another fantastic job in a very competitive ring placing third in Open Class on Sunday. Aura did a great job, as always, showing Kazi.

Two of the Kirbi x Zag puppies, Chase and Cassidy, made their show ring debut in the Bred by Exhibitor classes. They both earned ribbons in one of the toughest classes. They are both off to a GREAT start in their show careers!

Good luck to Kathy and Sebastian, Tammy and Jessie, Donald and Shaka, and Kathryn and Dina, as they drive off to California to compete in the Orange Coast RR Specialty and the Western Hound Specialty. We are hoping for some BIG WINS this weekend.

Tucson, Arizona - Canada Del Oro Kennel Club

Congratulations to Breeder/Owner/Handler Kathryn Blumenfeld-Jones (KaKily Ridgebacks) and her girl, Dina (CH KaKily Starry Nights Pumamere-Coprdg, JC RN), for her Best Of Breed and Group 4 win on Saturday March 21st in Tucson. As always, Kathryn handled Dina beautifully!

On Sunday, Owner/Handler Tammy Western took Jessie (CopperRidge 100 Degrees in the Shade) Reserve Winners Bitch and Sebastian (CopperRidge Caliente) went Reserve Winners Dog with Owner/Handler Kathy Richards. So close to finishing their Championships….we will have to wait until Kachina.

Scottsdale Ridgeback Breeder, CopperRidge, victorious at Scottsdale Dog Shows

What a great weekend at the Scottsdale dog shows. The weather was great and the competition in the Ridgeback ring was fierce! There were so many wonderful dogs in attendance - the judges had their work cut out for them. The #1 Ridgeback, Ikaika, was there as well as a lot of other “out of state” dogs who made the trip to this show.

Friday was a GREAT day for Breeder/Owner/Handlers, Donald and Kathryn Blumenfeld-Jones of KaKily Ridgebacks. Shaka (CH KaKily Shockwave of Pumamere-Coprdg, JC RN) , being expertly shown by Donald as always, won Best of Breed and Dina (CH KaKily Starry Night of Pumamere-Coprdg, JC RN) won Best Opposite Sex with Kathryn. What great wins for both of them! Dina went on to win BOS on Saturday and Sunday as well.

Monday was a banner CopperRidge Day! Not only did Coby strut his stuff in the Veteran class to resounding ringside applause, but his offspring were victorious in their classes. Sebastian (a Coby grandson) was awarded Best of Winner’s and a 4 point major. Jessie (a Coby granddaughter) received Winner’s Bitch honors and a 4 point major. Dina (a Coby daughter) won BEST OF BREED. Way to go!!! We are so PROUD of our owner-handler, Kathy Richards (with Sebastian) and Breeder/Owner /Handler Kathryn Blumenfeld-Jones (with Dina)!

New to the ring this weekend was Kazi, a sister to our girl Kirbi. Our daughter Aura showed Kazi and she looked like an old pro. Aura also showed Kibo (littermate to Sebastian and Jessie) all weekend and he looked great! Kibo was awarded Reserve Winner’s Dog on Friday - good job Kibo!

We want to thank ALL of our puppy-people who came out on Sunday to watch Coby in Veteran Class and help us celebrate his 10th birthday. We really appreciate all of your support and we are looking forward to seeing our “up and coming” puppies in the ring very soon!!!

Next show will be in Tucson - March 21 and 22. We are keeping our fingers crossed for Sebastian and Jessie. They may be our new champions - Sebastian only needs 1 more point and Jessie needs just 3.

Scottsdale Dog Shows

Scottsdale Dog Show - mark your calendar and come out to join the fun!!! The Scottsdale Dog Shows will be held at West World in Scottsdale, Arizona. On February 27th and 28th, the Superstition Kennel Club will be hosting the shows. On March 1st and 2nd the Scottsdale Dog Fanciers Association will be hosting. Click here more info.

There will be close to 50 Ridgebacks entered each day.

Friday the Ridgebacks will be in Ring 9 - starting at 8 am

Saturday is Ring 8 - starting at 8 am

Sunday is Ring 5 - starting at 8:45 am

Monday is Ring 17 - starting at 10:55 am

On Sunday and Monday, Coby will be strutting his stuff in the Veteran Class - COME OUT AND CLAP FOR COBY! Coby will be turning 10 years old the following week and we will be having a birthday party for him after the show on Sunday.

Lost Dutchman and Sahuaro State Kennel Club Shows

What a great weekend at the Lost Dutchman and Sahuaro State Kennel Club dog shows. These shows took place Feb 5-8 at the Arizona Fairgrounds. Great venue - by the way.

The first day, Sebastian (CopperRidge Caliente) was awarded Winners Dog and obtained two points! On Saturday, Jessie (CopperRidge 100 Degrees in the Shade) was awarded Winners Bitch and Sebastian won Best of Winners. Both dogs earned 4 point majors! Way to go! Both of these dogs are from the Reese x Travis litter of Feb. 2007. Jessie now has 8 points and Sebastian has 10 points toward their championships. Keep up the good work!

Sunday was filled with even more excitement! Kamali (CopperRidge Spirit in Motion) has become a NEW CHAMPION!!! Congratulations to Terry and Renee Arges. Kamali was also awarded Best of Winners.

Also on Sunday, Breeder/Owner, Donald Blumenfeld-Jones, expertly handling Shaka (CH Kakily Shockwave of Pumamere-Copperridge JC RN), was awarded Best of Breed - way to go Donald. They then went on to win Group 2 honors….OUTSTANDING!

Let’s not forget Breeder/Owner/Handler, Kathryn Blumenfeld-Jones, and her beautiful bitch, Dina (CH Kakily Starry Night of Pumamere-Copperridge JC RN). They were awarded Best of Opposite Sex every single day! What a great team they are.
