Arizona Rhodesian Ridgeback breeder, CopperRidge, has 3 dogs in TOP 20 at Nationals

Monday, April 27th, 2009

CopperRidge Ridgebacks – the Premier Arizona Rhodesian Ridgeback breeder, is so excited about the upcoming Rhodesian Ridgeback National Specialty. This year’s Ridgeback National Specialty is being held in Lansing, Michigan May 25th – 31st. Here is why we are so excited – there are going to be three Coby (CH Wyndrunhr Skywalker, JC, HIC, CGC, ROM ) off-spring in the Prestigious Top-Twenty Competition. That is THREE out of the TOP TWENTY RIDGEBACKS in the country were sired by COBY – WHAT AN ACCOMPLISHMENT – we are so proud of our breeding program. And, we are also so VERY, VERY proud of our Breeder/Owner/Handlers Donald and Kathryn Blumenfled-Jones – of KaKily Ridgebacks.

Donald will be handling Shaka (BISS CH Kakily Shockwave of Pumamere-CopperRidge, JC RN). Donald and Shaka are fresh off a BISS win at the Orange Coast Rhodesian Ridgeback Specalty in California. There was an entry of over 90 Ridgebacks! Shaka is currently #7 in Best in Breed Point Standings in 2009.

Kathryn will be handling Dina (CH Kakily Starry Night of Pumamere-CopperRidge, JC RN). Dina is currently the #1 Bitch in the country and is #13 in Best in Breed Point Standings for 2009.

Lastly, CopperRidge’s very own Chris (BISS CH Redawgs Christofel O’CopperRidge, SC, HIC) will be handled by Michele Bohrer. We have known Michele for many years and we are very excited to have her show our boy at the Nationals.

We want to thank all of our puppy-people and all of you who have supported us for all these years. We are sending out “winning wishes” to Donald, Kathyrn and Michele. We are already making plans for next year’s Nationals in Ventura, California.

What a GREAT weekend for Arizona Ridgeback breeders, CopperRidge Ridgebacks and KaKily Ridgebacks, at the Orange Coast RR Club/Western Hound Assoc. of Southern California – “Hound Classic” weekend! The three day event took place April 10-12 near Riverside, CA.

shaka-oc-win1 There were over 90 Ridgebacks entered on Friday and the Judging was handled by Pamela Levander. Best of Breed honors went to Breeder/Owner Donald Blumenfeld-Jones – EXPERTLY handling Shaka (CH Kakily Shockwave of Pumamere-CopperRidge, JC RN) There were 18 dogs entered in Best of Breed class so this was a wonderful win for Donald and Shaka – they looked incredible.

Kudos go out to Owner/Handler Tammy Western who handled Jessie (CH CopperRidge 100 Degrees in the Shade, JC) for the first time in the Best of Breed ring. She received a 1st Award of Merit – OUTSTANDING and way to go Tammy!

On Saturday, Donald and Kathryn, who was handling Dina (CH Kakily Starry Night of Pumamere-CopperRidge, JC RN), each received an Award of Merit in the Best of Breed competition. Again, this was a large and competitive class and we are very proud of our breeder/owner/handlers Donald and Kathryn!

On Sunday, owner/handler Kathy Richards was awarded Reserve to Winner’s Dog with Sebastian (CopperRidge Caliente). Sebastian had won Open Class both Friday and Saturday which was a tremendous feat in and of itself and then was able to end the weekend with a Reserve Win. Way to go Kathy!

On a side (and funny) note – Kathy Richards was given the dubious honor of “Best Dressed in Show” on Sunday by “The Ridgeback Register”. You can subscribe to their newsletter at www.theridgebackregister.com.

There are some great dog shows coming up and we will keep you posted on all the winnings………

New Champion Crowned at Kachina Dog Show

Monday, April 6th, 2009

Breeder/Owner/Handler, Kathryn Blumenfeld-Jones (KaKily Ridgebacks) and Dina (CH KaKily Starry Night of Pumamere-Coprdg, JC RN) pulled off a “three-peat” by winning Best Opposite Sex all three days of the ARRC/Kachina Dog Shows at the University of Phoenix Stadium. This was a new venue for these shows and it was a nice change of pace considering it was very windy over the weekend. There were a lot of out of state entries which made for a very competitive field.

jessiechampionpic11The BIG NEWS was Jessie (CH CopperRidge 100 Degrees in the Shade, JC) won a 5 Point Major to complete her championship – with 4 major wins! She was expertly handled by John Mayhall of Pine, AZ. Congratulations Tammy and Rich Western!!

Our “new to the ring” Kazi (Primetime CopperRidge Star Kissed, JC) did another fantastic job in a very competitive ring placing third in Open Class on Sunday. Aura did a great job, as always, showing Kazi.

Two of the Kirbi x Zag puppies, Chase and Cassidy, made their show ring debut in the Bred by Exhibitor classes. They both earned ribbons in one of the toughest classes. They are both off to a GREAT start in their show careers!

Good luck to Kathy and Sebastian, Tammy and Jessie, Donald and Shaka, and Kathryn and Dina, as they drive off to California to compete in the Orange Coast RR Specialty and the Western Hound Specialty. We are hoping for some BIG WINS this weekend.

Congratulations to Breeder/Owner/Handler Kathryn Blumenfeld-Jones (KaKily Ridgebacks) and her girl, Dina (CH KaKily Starry Nights Pumamere-Coprdg, JC RN), for her Best Of Breed and Group 4 win on Saturday March 21st in Tucson. As always, Kathryn handled Dina beautifully!

On Sunday, Owner/Handler Tammy Western took Jessie (CopperRidge 100 Degrees in the Shade) Reserve Winners Bitch and Sebastian (CopperRidge Caliente) went Reserve Winners Dog with Owner/Handler Kathy Richards. So close to finishing their Championships….we will have to wait until Kachina.
